Dr Shirley Chu

M.B.,B.S,PhD, F.R.A.C.G.P

Dr Shirley Chu is the Principal Doctor for Mediscreen Clinic and has worked here for more than 20 years.

She is very dedicated to her patients and has a special interest in primary care across all ages. She is particularly interested in Women's Health. From teenagers, through motherhood, to post-menopausal care.

She takes great pride and pleasure in developing long term relationships with her patients. 

Dr Chu also enjoys giving back to the medical community by teaching students from Melbourne University and supervising many GP registrars.

Dr Cathy Wang

M.B., B.S.(Melb). Dip Child Health

Cathy graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2010.

She has experienced many areas of health in her rotations including General Surgery, Emergency, OBGYN, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Psychiatry and General Medicine.

She has particular interest in pursuing Paediatrics in which she has completed a diploma of child health, as well as Women’s Health, Mental Health and Dermatology.

Cathy is trained in Implanon insertion and Botox injections. She enjoys teaching 1st year medical students at Monash University and can speak Mandarin.

Dr Avi Kamale

M.B., B.S., D.O.M.S., DPD (UK), F.R.A.C.G.P.

Avi has many areas of interest including General Family Health, Travel Health and Childhood Immunisations, Skin Mole checks/Dermatology and Allergies. He happily performs small surgical procedures in the clinic such as skin lesion/mole removals.

Avi also takes great pleasure in teaching medicine and will often have students from Monash University observing his practice. 

He studied in India, England and Australia graduating in 1991. He can also speak Hindi.

Dr Dunitha Jayasinghe

M.B., B.S. (Monash), F.R.A.C.G.P

Dr Dunitha Jayasinghe graduated from Monash University and is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. With hospital experience in areas of general medicine, surgery, obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics, psychiatry, geriatrics and emergency medicine, Dr Jayasinghe has been a GP for over fourteen years.

She has had varied general practice experience including country Victoria and the inner eastern suburbs. She has an interest in all areas of general practice, particularly women’s and men’s health, paediatrics, routine childhood immunisation and basic travel advice.

Dr Bernard Freedman

M.B., B.S.

Now semi-retired, he graduated from Melbourne Uni in 1962. He is the founding doctor of Mediscreen Clinic. He can perform acupuncture.

Dr Jeanette Lee

M.B., B.S. F.R.A.C.G.P

She has an interest in women’s health, STI’s and children’s health. She graduated from Melbourne University in 2003. She has basic abilities speaking mandarin.

Dr Tony Arkell

M.B.B.S. (Melb), Dip RACOG

Tony graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1978 and has been working as a family practitioner in the Glen Iris / Malvern area for 30 years. He graduated with postgraduate studies in Family Medicine and Obstetrics.

He now maintains an interest in all areas of Men’s and Women’s health and preventative health.

Dr Thomas Boosey

M.B., B.S. BSC

Thomas is a GP Registrar  working under the direction and supervision of Dr Chu. He graduated from Griffith University in QLD in 2013 having completed his residency at Ipswich Hospital QLD. 

In Victoria he has been a surgical resident at The Alfred, Sandringham Hospital and Mildura Base Hospital. During these residencies he work in Plastic surgery/Burns, ENT/Maxillofacial, Cardiothoracic, Urology and General surgery. His other medical experience includes paediatrics, rehabilitation, emergency, obstetrics and gynaecology, anaesthetics, mental health and intellectual disabilities. From this experience he has developed interests in preventative health care, procedures including skin cancer incisions, ear wax removal and Implanon insertion as well as Travel Medicine. 

He is also a Monash University Teaching Associate for medical students on their general practice rotations.

He has a limited proficiency in speaking French
